Using Citrus Scrub 'N Shine

Citrus Scrub 'N Shine (#525) was developed for weekly restoration and periodic deep cleaning of finished floors. Users like the citrus aroma, superior cleaning and labor savings that it offers.

Recent field work and subsequent lab work has uncovered a potential problem when Citrus Scrub 'N Shine is over-used. Many users like the tremendous cleaning power so much that they've decided to use it daily or add more chemical to their mop bucket or scrubber than is advised by the label.

Two different sets of problems occur when this product is over-used. The first problem occurs with the mechanism that makes Citrus Scrub 'N Shine work so well for weekly restoration. Our chemists discovered that this mechanism actually works against the user when this product is used daily. The d-Limonene and surfactants in Citrus Scrub 'N Shine soften the top layer of finish and allow the buffer to pull dirt and smooth the floor, creating a clean, high gloss surface. When this softening and burnishing process is increased beyond the recommended weekly cycle, the floor finish can lose its resiliency. This in turn creates gloss problems and can lead to premature stripping.

The other problem caused by over-use occurs during recoating. Over-use can create a build-up on the floor that disrupts the film-forming process, creating leveling and adhesion problems. The floor may take on an "orange peel" look when it's exposed to traffic after recoating.

If you're using Citrus Scrub 'N Shine weekly, continue to do so with confidence. If your usage is more frequent, we suggest that you cut back to our weekly recommendation.
